GHAZIABAD: Local Congress functionary Lalmani Singh Pal Lassiwale has been booked for allegedly shooting at a 43-year-old man following a quarrel among some teenagers outside the politician’s house.An FIR has been registered against Lalmani on a complaint by Bhupendra Singh, who heads a Delhi-based NGO, All India Crime Reforms Organisation. The Congress functionary has been booked along with his brother, Udai Veer, and four unknown persons under sections 323 (assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.Singh has said in his complaint that Lalmani had fired at least four rounds outside his house in Subash Nagar on September 12 night. “I was returning home on a motorcycle around 11.30pm when I noticed a few youths fighting outside Lalmani’s house. They had blocked the entire road and did not let me drive. I intervened but one of the boys turned abusive.“I slapped him a couple of times at which Lalmani’s relatives came out of the house and thrashed me. After a few minutes, the politician emerged from his residence and fired a round in the air. He also fired three shots at me, but they missed me by a whisker,” Singh told TOI.Supporters of Lalmani and relatives of Singh reached the police station late at night to lodge respective complaints. The case against the Congress leader and his accomplices was lodged after a preliminary inquiry. “The matter seems to be the fallout of a fight between both parties. CCTV footage is being examined and investigations are underway. No one has been arrested yet,” said Sanjay Pandey, the SHO of Sihani Gate.Lalmani denied the allegations against him. “The youths who were fighting among themselves were from my family and Singh’s family. I had tried to intervene to end the fight. The allegations of opening fire are baseless,” said Lalmani.
