4 try to extort Rs 5 lakh from medicine store owner, held after gunfight

GREATER NOIDA: Four persons were arrested on Saturday night, following an exchange of fire, during a checking drive near Bisahda underpass in Dadri The four were allegedly wanted for demanding Rs 5 lakh ransom from a medical store owner in Dadri in the name of their gang leader who is currently lodged in jail.Police said, the gang leader Neetu alias Kuldeep, who already has NSA invoked at him, was operating the gang from jail as he needed the money urgently. Neetu was sent behind the bars for killing a power substation officer.Police said, Neetu had asked Rangeela and Sonu Valmiki, both 22-years-old, natives of Badhpura village in Dadri, to demand Rs 5 lakh from the medical store owner named Pramod Kumar while Supendra (23), another native of Badhpura, who had went to jail in April for allegedly shooting at one of his brother-in-law Pramod, was conspiring another attack on him with the help of one Mohit (25), who lives in Tulsi Vihar area of Dadri.The four were on search since Pramod Kumar had filed a complaint on August 11 against Rangeela and Sonu for asking extortion money. No one got injured during the firing.“On questioning, the accused revealed that they had a meeting where they discussed about the murder of Supendra’s brother-in-law and also arrange for the extortion money which their gang leader had asked them,” Kumar added.The police official further added that the accused are wanted criminals and have various cases registered against them in police stations of Greater Noida They have been booked under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 379 (punishment for theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC.
