GREATER NOIDA: A 22-year-old woman fought off two bike-borne men who were allegedly passing lewd comments at her and forced them to flee the spot in Greater Noida on Tuesday.She also approached the police, but did not lodge a complaint. Instead, she asked the two accused to be called to the police station and apologise in front of her friends and relatives. Police said Anjali Jadav, a resident of Rabupura area, lives in a joint family. A Class XII passout, Anjali is currently learning stitching and travels to a nearby village in a bus to attend classes.An uncle of the girl said she was on her way to the Akalpur bus stand as usual along with a couple of friends when the two men on a bike intercepted them. The women were to board a bus to go to Jhajhar, where she had her stitching classes.As the comments against the women grew louder, Anjali encountered the bike-borne men and started a heated argument with them. “When she shouted back, one of them walked up to her and both had a heated exchange of words. Anjail wasn’t ready to let this pass as another incident of harassment. The debate snowballed into a fight and the two came to blows. The bike-borne men fled the spot as people started gathering,” the uncle said.The matter did not end there. Anjali and her friends went back home and told their families about the alleged harassment. The relatives then approached the police.Rajveer Singh, the station house officer of Rabupura, said Anjali had come to the police station along with her family the same day but refused to lodge a complaint. Instead, she asked the police to call the accused youths to the police station the next day.“On Wednesday too, the two parties discussed the issue outside the police station but no one filed any complaint. In fact, it was on Thursday evening that the youths who had attacked the girl were asked to apologise to the girl. They did in front of everybody,” Singh added.
