GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ( YEIDA ) has invited bids for selecting a consultant that will study ways to connect the propos-ed airport at Jewar to Delhi and other important cities of NCR.Shailendra Bhatia, officer on special duty at YEIDA, said the last date to submit application is October 24.Those applying should have an annual turnover of at least Rs 20 crore in the last three financial years and should be able to submit the report within four months.Officials said the consultant would study various aspects of modern means of transport, such as Metrino Personal Rapid Transport, pod taxis and hyperloop, and advise YEIDA on whether these can be implemented in the area. The consultant will have to make recommendations based on various modes of transport that people of the area use at present and how the mode of travel is expected to change in the future. The suggestions will be based on points such as “feeder corridors, last mile connectivity, safety of commuters, compliance with emission norms” and so on.The e-tender states that the “multi-modal urban transit project” will be developed in keeping with guidelines issued by the ministry of urban development and the state government. It will also take into account several policy documents, including the National Urban Transport Policy.YEIDA has already engaged an agency to work on a proposed metro route connecting Greater Noida with the region around the Yamuna Expressway. Inputs and suggestions from this agency will be shared with the consultant so that it comes up with an integrated transit plan.Apart from the transit plan, the consultant will also be required to submit a techno-economic pre-feasibility report involving tasks such as preparation of “traffic demand estimation and forecasting; multi-modal solutions, plans and integration, cost estimation, conceptual layouts, etc”. Over 80% of Jewar farmers whose land has been identified in the first phase have already given their consent, paving the way for acquisition. Last month, a meeting headed by chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey had also approved the social impact assessment report of the airport project.
