Noida okays Rs 100cr to link power stns, expand lines

NOIDA: In an effort to ensure that there are no trippings or outages , the Noida Authority has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to expand electricity lines in various sectors and also to interlink different power stations in its area. Superintending engineer, PVVNL, Vivek Aggarwal said the power department had made the proposal to the Noida Authority to interlink the sub-stations some time ago. “The Noida Authority should have interlinked the sub-stations earlier. The Authority has already started expanding 33kV power lines from these two stations to sectors like 83, 82, 93, 142, 137, 153, 108, etc. Earlier, the UP government had announced Noida as a ‘no tripping zone’ on August 15, 2018.Noida’s monthly power consumption is 400 million units.

NOIDA: In an effort to ensure that there are no trippings or outages , the Noida Authority has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to expand electricity lines in various sectors and also to interlink different power stations in its area. The interlinking of sub-stations will ensure that even if there is a technical glitch in one line, the power supply will remain uninterrupted due to connection from another line. The interlinking will be done between power stations Sector 63 E to Sector 63 G, Sector 79 to Sector 117, Sector 8 to Sector 25, Sector 58 to Sector 56 and Sector 11 to Sector 56.R K Mishra, additional chief executive officer, Noida Authority, said the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) is developing an 400 kV sub-station in Sector 148 and another 220 kV sub-station near Botanical Garden in Sector 38-A. The Authority has already started expanding 33kV power lines from these two stations to sectors like 83, 82, 93, 142, 137, 153, 108, etc. The Authority has sanctioned Rs 89.67 crore for expanding the new lines and Rs 10.86 lakh for interlinking the sub-stations.The officials are also upgrading the existing transmission and distribution infrastructure and expedite grievance redressals. They are also identifying grey areas where instances of avoidable tripping are reported in industrial, commercial and residential areas to take corrective measures. The sub-divisional officers and engineers have also been sensitized to work on the issue.N P Singh, president, FONRWA, said residents face power cuts at least five or six times in a month. “The Noida Authority should have interlinked the sub-stations earlier. Still we welcome this move as it will solve the problem of outage and tripping incidents in different sectors,” he said.The Noida Authority and the power department had recently conducted joint surveys and realised the need to interlink power sub-stations in the area. Superintending engineer, PVVNL, Vivek Aggarwal said the power department had made the proposal to the Noida Authority to interlink the sub-stations some time ago. “This is a positive development as this will solve the issue of breakdown in powerlines. We will be able to repair the technical faults, if any, and will also simultaneously continue power supply to the residents. Earlier, the affected area had to face 2-3 hour outage till the glitches were fixed,” he said.He said most sub-stations have the provision to interlink with each other. Earlier, the UP government had announced Noida as a ‘no tripping zone’ on August 15, 2018.Noida’s monthly power consumption is 400 million units. The city has 1,600 megawatt distribution capacity while the requirement is up to 1,500 megawatt. Noida is now envisaged as a ‘no-tripping zone’ by 2019.
