GREATER NOIDA: A fire broke out in a plastic moulding factory in Udyog Vihar industrial area on Sunday morning. The fire safety department said the incident occurred in Sperry Plast Limited where parts of electronic appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators are manufactured.The guards present at the factory saw fumes coming out from the raw material section of the factory, after which they informed the fire service. “Around 5.15am, the fire broke out and we immediately informed our owners. The fire safety department team took more than six hours to reach the spot,” the guard said.“It is suspected that the fire broke out due to a short circuit . As soon as we received information, three fire tenders were rushed at the spot after which 11 more were called from all the neighbouring stations. The fire was controlled after around three hours but it took three more hours to get a hold on the situation completely,” said Gyan Prakash Sharma, fire safety officer.No one was injured in the fire but some raw material was burnt. “We’re expecting a loss of goods worth lakhs,” the guard added.Sharma added that the factory is owned by a Delhi-based resident who has not visited the spot and no complaint has been filed.
