Noida sprinkles water, cleans drain to address pollution, stench

Noida: The Noida Authority carried out sprinkling of water on dusty roads across the city to bring down pollution. The drain has been completely choked and a major cause of water logging during rains complained residents of the Sector. According to the residents, it is the first time that the drain was being cleaned by automated suction machines in the sector. "We might work in the night if required to finish the work," said Sharma.Despite such efforts residents however still maintain much is required to curb pollution levels as well as choked drain across other sectors of the city. Meanwhile, cleaning of drains is also on-going on both sides of the road between blocks A and B of Sector 19 by automated suction machines.

The drain has been completely choked and a major cause of water logging during rains complained residents of the Sector."Though it was a holiday on account of Bhai Duj festival on Friday, work circle 4 of Noida Authority carried out extensive water sprinkling on dusty roads across the city to address continued dust pollution including in sectors 6, 14A, 105, 125, 136, 137, Mamura road sector 62, zonal road no. 5, on 45 metre wide road parallel to expressway, Pusta road and more. We also washed trees laden with dust in the evening," said Rajeev Tyagi general manager in-charge of work circle 1 to 5, Noida Authority.Also the public health department of the Authority stepped out to clean the choked drain in sector 19 - a long pending demand of residents of the Sector. According to the residents, it is the first time that the drain was being cleaned by automated suction machines in the sector."We supervised the cleaning of drains on both sides of road between blocks A and B blocks of Sector 19 by automated suction machines deployed by Authority on Friday. These drains are being cleaned for the first time in this manner. The drains are completely choked and have been a major cause of water logging during rains," said R C Gupta RWA general secretary sector 19.S K Sharma health inspector in-charge of the Sector told TOI that the work will continue throughout this week before the drain can be finally cleaned. "We might work in the night if required to finish the work," said Sharma.Despite such efforts residents however still maintain much is required to curb pollution levels as well as choked drain across other sectors of the city.
