Speed up work to link Gr Noida west with metro lines, GNIDA to tell NMRC

Greater Noida: A long-term proposal of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to extend the Blue Line from Sector 71 to Greater Noida west has finally found a push. “It would be good if the extensions of Blue Line and Aqua Line meet somewhere in Greater Noida west. This significant area needs to be linked with metro connectivity,” he said.Bhooshan said NMRC had conducted a preliminary study for extending the metro line to Greater Noida west. The residents will get a good public transport system in the area,” he said.Greater Noida west has developed into a residential hub in the past one decade. The CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has said he would take up the proposal at a board meeting on December 3.Narendra Bhooshan, the GNIDA CEO, said he would also recommend to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) to take up the project on a priority basis and expedite work on it.Bhooshan said the need for extending the metro line to Greater Noida was felt because the area, earlier known as Noida Extension, was getting more and more populated by the day.“A number of people has started living here of late and they work in different companies. This significant area needs to be linked with metro connectivity,” he said.Bhooshan said NMRC had conducted a preliminary study for extending the metro line to Greater Noida west. “Other than this, no significant work has taken place in this regard. We will request NMRC to fast-track the project and prepare a detailed project report.”NMRC had earlier conducted a study for extending the Blue Line from Sector 71. It had proposed nine stations on the route — Sector 122, Sector 123 in Noida; and Sector 4, Ecotech 12, Sector 2, Sector 3, Sector 10, Greater Noida, and Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida.GNIDA will also recommend connecting Noida Extension with the Aqua Line, which currently terminates at Delta 1. “It would be good if the extensions of Blue Line and Aqua Line meet somewhere in Greater Noida west. The residents will get a good public transport system in the area,” he said.Greater Noida west has developed into a residential hub in the past one decade. There are a number of housing societies where hundreds of families are living at present — Gaur City, Supertech Ecovillage, Exotica Dreamville, Galaxy North Avenue, Nirala Aspire, La Residentia, etc.
