  • | Saturday | 8th December, 2018

We have planned to hand over the bridge till December end,” assistant engineer of the irrigation department, NP Singh, told TOI.However, the police as well as the traffic department said they were yet to receive any message from the irrigation department in this regard. Black topping of portions of the approach road, which have already been laid, will be undertaken soon. That single-storey unit will be razed down to link the approach road across the canal towards the side of Vasundhara to the CISF-Vasundhara road. These were not fully grown trees and were trans-located along the road and the Hindon canal. We have also asked the police department to relocate the Vasundhara police outpost.

Ghaziabad: The construction of approach roads for the new bridge across Hindon canal at Kanawani in Indirapuram has started after a clearance was granted by the forest department for translocating five trees that were on its alignment. However, the UP irrigation department is facing a new obstacle in the form of the Vasundhara police outpost. The irrigation department has asked Ghaziabad police to relocate the outpost so that the approach road towards Vasundhara side can be completed. On Friday, workers were seen giving a final coat of paint to the concrete bridge. The project of the bridge has been undertaken by the irrigation department and the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) had granted Rs 16 crore to the department for the same. “The forest department allowed us to relocate five trees. These were not fully grown trees and were trans-located along the road and the Hindon canal. Black topping of portions of the approach road, which have already been laid, will be undertaken soon. We have also asked the police department to relocate the Vasundhara police outpost. That single-storey unit will be razed down to link the approach road across the canal towards the side of Vasundhara to the CISF-Vasundhara road. We have planned to hand over the bridge till December end,” assistant engineer of the irrigation department, NP Singh, told TOI.However, the police as well as the traffic department said they were yet to receive any message from the irrigation department in this regard. “No message has been received by the police department for relocating of the outpost after I took over charge as the SSP last month. Necessary action will be taken to mitigate the issue if we receive any request for relocating the outpost,” said Ghaziabad SSP Upendra Kumar Agarwal.
