Noida’s first waste treatment plant inaugurated in Sector 54

The plant can process 40 ton waste per hour and clear Noida’s 2 lakh ton waste legacy in coming days.Noida Authority CEO Alok Tandon inaugurated the plant and said the facility will solve Noida’s waste management issue. NOIDA: A waste remediation plant, claimed to be the first in North-India, was inaugurated in Noida Sector-54 on Sunday. The facility will make Noida garbage free. In this stage, the waste is processed into the machinery which separates it into RDF, good earth, stone/inert and scrap.The third step is disposal. This ensures removal of stench, reduction of flies and moisture and helps in bio-degradation.The next step is sorting and segregation.

NOIDA: A waste remediation plant, claimed to be the first in North-India, was inaugurated in Noida Sector-54 on Sunday. The plant can process 40 ton waste per hour and clear Noida’s 2 lakh ton waste legacy in coming days.Noida Authority CEO Alok Tandon inaugurated the plant and said the facility will solve Noida’s waste management issue. Authority said this will also improve Noida’s Swachh Ranking in 2019.Tamil Nadu based M/S Zigma Global Environ Solutions Pvt Ltd which has a joint venture with South Korean firm – M/S Forcebel Co. Ltd was selected for the project.Remediation process takes place in three steps. Pre-Stabilization, The entire landfill site is converted into equal size windrows and turned frequently along with spraying of bio-culture and de-odorizer. This ensures removal of stench, reduction of flies and moisture and helps in bio-degradation.The next step is sorting and segregation. In this stage, the waste is processed into the machinery which separates it into RDF, good earth, stone/inert and scrap.The third step is disposal. RDF will be transported to cement factories in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Soil conditioner/good earth will be taken away by horticulture department of Authority for farming. Metal scraps will be sold to recyclers and stones shall be used for road construction and embankment purpose.R K Mishra, ACEO Noida Authority, said that the garbage lot in Sector-54 would be clear in 4-5 months. “The machines will then shift to Mubarakpur, Sector 145 where garbage is presently dumped. The facility will make Noida garbage free. It will also help the city in achieving a significant position in Swachh Ranking – 2019,” he said.
