Delhi's air quality dips again to ‘poor’

NEW DELHI: The capital’s air quality index was ‘poor’ at 249 on Friday— a slight increase from Thursday’s ‘moderate’ 194. The season’s lowest so far was 7.6 degrees Celsius recorded on November 8. The forecast for the next 24 hours shows that the air quality is likely to deteriorate and touch ‘very poor’ level due to adverse weather conditions. The Met forecast shows moderate to dense fog to continue early in the morning with a maximum and minimum of 22 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively. SAFAR analysis also showed that the impact of fog was high on Friday, while the mixing layer height is likely to decrease by Saturday.Delhi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Officials added that the minimum temperature is likely to drop to around 6 degrees Celsius by Tuesday.The CPCB data at 8pm showed Delhi-NCR average PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels to be 109 and 189 micrograms per cubic metre, respectively.
