A police team will soon go to Agra and collect more information about the account.An FIR has been lodged against Raj Kumar Rana, a native of Ludhiana who identified himself as the owner of the agency to victims, under IPC sections 419 (cheating for impersonation) and 420 (cheating) on a complaint by Vikas Kumar, one of the cheated youths.Two days ago, Vikas and several other youths had lodged an FIR against the Raj Nagar district centre-based placement agency for cheating them of lakhs of rupees. Around 15 of the victims, mostly from Bihar and various parts of Uttar Pradesh, had come to the city on Thursday and lodged a complaint at Kavi Nagar police station.The complainants had claimed they had seen advertisements about jobs of storekeepers, mechanics, cooks and helpers in New Zealand, Australia and Canada in local newspapers. The monthly salary offered to selected candidates was between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000.“The advertisement was published in all leading newspapers of the region. Soon after, I called the company office and was asked to come to Ghaziabad to fill an application form and sign an agreement. Over the next few months, the company officials took Rs 1.60 lakh from me in the name of medical examination, insurance and processing the visa application,” said Vikas (26), a resident of Raxaul in Bihar.The complainants, who had come to Kavi Nagar, were from Varanasi, Chhapra, Ballia, Motihari, Raxaul and Mumbai.
