Gangster shot, 20 mins after getting ‘dekh loonga’ threat

Later, another caller who identified himself as Babli Nagar of Greater Noida’s Sadullapur threatened him. Around 6am on Saturday, news started doing the rounds that Dharmi’s body had been recovered in Roopwas village.

NOIDA: Dharmendra Vikal alias Dharmi, a history-sheeter, was allegedly dragged from home and shot dead by unidentified assailants in Dadri early on Saturday, 20 minutes after a caller who identified himself as gangster Randeep Bhati promised to “teach you a lesson (dekh loonga)”.Dharmi, who has around a dozen cases lodged against him for murder , loot, snatching and under provisions of the Goonda and Gangster Acts between 2003 and 2012, was forced into an SUV by a group of unidentified assailants and taken away on Friday night. His body was recovered near Roopwas village around 6am on Saturday.Earlier on Friday, Dharmi was involved in a clash with three youngsters after his Innova was allegedly hit by another vehicle on Railway Road. The youngsters — Vivek Singh, Paikar Singh and Gyanendra Singh — all residents of Sunpura village, allegedly came to blows with Dharmi and his accomplices. Following the clash, the father of Vivek lodged a complaint against Dharmi and three of his accomplices. An FIR was registered against them under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC, among others.Police said that after Dharmi returned home in Dadri, he allegedly got a call from a person who identified himself as gangster Randeep Bhati. Asked to reveal his actual identity, the caller said he would “reveal himself in 20 minutes”.“The caller threatened to kill my uncle. Later, another caller who identified himself as Babli Nagar of Greater Noida’s Sadullapur threatened him. Around 9.30pm, as many as 8-10 men came in two SUVs and barged into the house. They started firing in the air and took away my uncle,” Dharmi’s nephew said in the complaint. Around 6am on Saturday, news started doing the rounds that Dharmi’s body had been recovered in Roopwas village. Sources said as many as five bullets had been pumped into his body.Police have lodged a case against the three youths — Vivek, Paikar, Gyanendra — and Babli Nagar, Randeep Bhati and 8-10 unknown persons under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC, among others.
