NOIDA: Burglars struck again in the city, this time targeting the house of a software engineer in a gated society in Sector 21 on Thursday. They allegedly made off with jewellery worth over Rs 4 lakh. Though a complaint has been filed, an FIR could not be lodged as the Sector 20 police station's server was down, officials said. The miscreants had entered Himadri Laha's ground-floor house after cutting the iron bolt of its main door, when he was away at work while his wife and children were out of town. Laha discovered the theft after returning from office around 10.30 pm."When I returned from work, I found that the bolt of the house had been cut and our belongings were scattered on the floor. I contacted a neighbour immediately who called the society's guards. Subsequently, we dialled 100 and a police team arrived," he told TOI.Himadri said the wooden almirah, where gold and silver ornaments worth about Rs 4 lakh were kept, was also broken. "The stolen items included four gold necklaces, two rings, two bangles and one gold bar , and some silver ornaments belonging to my one-year-old son," he said.Himadri said his wife and child are currently in their native district of Burdwan in West Bengal . "They went in the last week of November and were supposed to return within a month.
