NOIDA: The Noida Authority will hold its 33rd Vasant Utsav at Ramleela ground sector 21A from February 22 to 24. While Antirrhinum is the theme flower for the event, programmes include talks on awareness about pollution controlling / air purifying plants along with importance of water conservation.Additionally, to encourage participation for greater reach, first time, a photography competition will also be held at the venue where people can click a picture of flowers or foliage and submit it at the venue. The winning picture will be awarded a prize.Organised in association with the Floriculture society Noida, the event promises a display of seasonal flowers and vegetables. These include Alyssum, Carnation, Marigold, Chrysanthemums, Dahlia, Dianthus, Roses, Carnations, Pansy, Salvia, Putin etc. along with a display of fruits and vegetables grown in pots to generate awareness on organic gardening in limited space. “We will also showcase vertical gardens also known as living walls along with beauty of landscaping at the site,” said Rajeev Tyagi, general manager Noida Authority.Apart from the display of flowers and vegetables, the event will also host nukkad nataks on environmental issues, spot painting and group dance competition for school children, talks on awareness on air purifying and pollution controlling plants along with importance of water conservation. “A series of demonstrations on nest making and planting indoor plants will be carried out for the children. There will be special section allotted to composting demonstration from kitchen waste,” said Tyagi.Added attractions include floral animals and birds, bonsais, tray gardens, hanging baskets etc. along with garden accessories, plants, seeds, pots, manure, gardening tools etc. with a special food court for the visitors.
