Man steals wife’s cash, ‘takes revenge’

Greater Noida: A 50-year-old man was booked for allegedly robbing cash and jewellery worth lakhs from his own house in Sector Pi 2 in order to take revenge from his wife who had filed a domestic violence complaint against him. The couple lives separately, police said.The accused has been identified as Surendra Singh, a resident of Aligarh. When she returned home on Saturday, she found her cash and valuables missing. He works as an engineer with a Delhi-based private firm while his 47-year-old wife is a teacher in a private school in Greater Noida. They had been living separately since January 26.

He works as an engineer with a Delhi-based private firm while his 47-year-old wife is a teacher in a private school in Greater Noida. Police said she is on medical leave since 2018 after she was diagnosed with cancer.Police said the theft took place on January 29 when Singh’s wife was out of city along with their children. When she returned home on Saturday, she found her cash and valuables missing. After scanning the footage from a CCTV camera installed in the house, she filed a complaint against her husband at Surajpur police station.According to police, Singh had entered the house along with three other men, including a key-maker.“We received information about the theft on Saturday. The woman has accused her husband of stealing cash, one scooter and her jewellery with the help of three other men when the woman and her children were not present in the house,” said Munish Chauhan, SHO of Surajpur police station.The SHO added that the complainant has also submitted CCTV footage of the theft to back her claims. “A case was registered against the victim’s husband and three other men under IPC sections 380 (theft), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence),” he said.The couple have been married for over 20 years and have two kids - a 22-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son. They had been living separately since January 26.
