Former Paytm vice-president applies for bail in HC

NOIDA: Former Paytm vice-president Sonia Dhawan has filed a bail application in the Allahabad high court , with her husband out of jail.The bail plea, which has been applied last week in the HC by Sonia’s lawyers, will be listed at the court in the coming days.Sonia and her husband Roopak Jain were arrested after being accused by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma stealing his personal data and trying to extort him.While Roopak was released from jail on Monday, Sonia’s bail was rejected by the additional sessions judge on February 13, stating that as per the facts presented, the crime said to be committed by the accused is of “serious nature”.“In my view, the crime is of serious nature and there are not sufficient grounds for bail for the accused,” says the order.
