New Delhi: The government telecom company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) is stuck in a big crisis. BSNL, which is facing a financial crisis, has not given salary to its 1.76 lakh employees till February. The Employees Union has written a letter to Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha asking for a solution soon. Let me tell you that about 55 percent of BSNL income goes to pay. At the same time, the company`s salary bill is growing at an annual rate of 8 percent. The company`s income is steady.
According to the news published in the English newspaper Times of India, the salary for March will be delayed for a few days. The company usually has money after billing payments by business companies. BSNL Board has approved the proposal for taking a bank loan, but the Department of Telecommunications has not extended it yet. The loss of BSNL is increasing every year. It recorded a loss of around Rs 8,000 crore for FY18, while in FY 17, it was Rs 4,786 crore.
The government said - Manoj Sinha said in a letter to all the unions and associations of BSNL (AUB), other telecom operators are also facing financial crisis, but these companies are trying to manage the situation by investing. An official of BSNL said that the company has started paying salaries to employees in Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and the corporate office. He said, when earnings will be paid to employees then the salary will be paid. Because the government has not given any financial assistance, so the salary is delayed.
