Five booked for illegal construction in Shahberi

Greater Noida: Five persons have been booked after a complaint was filed by GNIDA officials, alleging that a three-storey building was being built illegally on a plot in Shahberi village of Noida Extension. A team of authority officials, including the sub-divisional magistrate and police, reached Shahberi on Wednesday afternoon where the residents had complained about illegal construction going on at night.“Acting on the complaints, we have demolished the structure that was being constructed illegally without getting its layout approved by the authority. The structure was being constructed next to the site where two buildings had collapsed in July last year, killing nine.Following the FIR, the authority demolished the building, as it was allegedly violating the construction norms.In addition to this, the officials have kept visual records of all buildings being constructed in order to stop illegal construction activities in Shahberi. “In order to monitor the ban on construction activities in the area, we are keeping visual records of all the buildings so that the builders who are still doing illegal construction activities can be caught and booked,” Ray added.Meanwhile, the officials also stopped laying of IGL gas pipeline, as they claimed that the excavation was happening without getting permission from the GNIDA.

All are from Shahberi.Manoj Pathak, SHO, Bisrakh police station, told TOI that all the accused have been booked under sections 288 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings) and 420 (cheating), along with Section 3 of prevention of damage of public property act of the IPC.“The accused are currently on the run. We have detained the construction workers for interrogation,” Pathak added.
