Plastic factory gutted, 2 injured fighting blaze

Greater Noida: A plastic moulding factory at site V of the Industrial Area in Kasna was gutted in a fire on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze was huge due to which around 14 fire tenders were deployed from all fire stations in the district. While most workers had vacated the premises on time, two employees who stayed back to try and douse the flames received minor injuries. The incident occurred during the lunch hours (around 1.30pm) when many were already outside. We also had packaging products that were made to deliver at Samsung and LG companies.

Greater Noida: A plastic moulding factory at site V of the Industrial Area in Kasna was gutted in a fire on Tuesday afternoon. While most workers had vacated the premises on time, two employees who stayed back to try and douse the flames received minor injuries. They were treated at the spot.According to the workers, the fire tenders took almost 40 minutes to reach the campus that belongs to Aditya Thermopack Pvt limited.The injured have been identified as Mohan Singh, a supervisor, and Ganesh, a helper at the company.“There are 150-200 workers employed in the factory. The incident occurred during the lunch hours (around 1.30pm) when many were already outside. Rest of the people were asked to vacate the campus. I noticed the fire first. It started in the store room. I tried to douse the flames with an extinguisher. But it started spreading quickly and by the time the fire tenders reached, the roof of the factory had come off,” said Mohan.The fire safety officer, however, denied the allegations that they had reached late and claimed that the flames spread rapidly because there were too many flammable things in the factory, like paper, plastic and thermocol. “A fire safety team was immediately dispatched to the spot. The blaze was huge due to which around 14 fire tenders were deployed from all fire stations in the district. There was no casualty, as all workers had vacated the place,” said Gyan Prakash Sharma, the fire safety officer, Greater Noida.Sanjay Rajput, the director at the factory, told TOI that the the unit manufactured air coolers and thermocol used in packaging. “We manufactured air coolers for a company. We also had packaging products that were made to deliver at Samsung and LG companies. It is very difficult to calculate the loss as of now. But it seems that the unit is completely destroyed and we will have to start from scratch again,” he said.The fire was not fully controlled till late in the evening.
