Earlier, Delhi had similarly rolled back the relaxation and capped the limitation for the number of people at a wedding congregation in the city at 50, down from 200. The directive will be imposed on not just weddings but also any similar ceremony or gathering. "These instructions have been given keeping in mind the increasing surge in coronavirus cases. Action will be ensured on violation of the directives. All concerned officials have been instructed to ensure its compliance and efforts will be put in to make the people aware of the new rules," said a statement from the DM`s office.

Noida authorities have started a coronavirus testing drive earlier this week wherein commuters coming to Noida from Delhi are randomly tested at the borders, metro stations and urban slums. Gautam Buddh Nagar district recorded 175 new cases of coronavirus and one death on Friday. The district currently has 1401 active cases, which is the second-highest in Uttar Pradesh. As many as 76 people from the district have succumbed to the disease so far, as per official figures.
