Noida/Ghaziabad: Amid the massive surge in Covid-19 cases, the Noida and Ghaziabad administrations on Friday ordered to increase the total number of beds reserved for Covid patients across various hospitals — both government and private. Several hospitals, which were denotified earlier, have been asked to reserve beds for Covid patients in both districts. Noida now has nine Covid hospitals with a total of 1,754 beds, including 383 ICU beds, 154 beds with ventilators and 783 with oxygen support.

“We have enough beds to treat Covid patients at the moment. The capacity can be increased based on the requirement. Most patients are currently in home isolation and they are being monitored over calls at least twice a day,” said district surveillance officer Dr Sunil Dohare. The government hospitals in Noida are GIMS and Noida Covid Hospital in Sector 39. The private ones are Fortis, Yathartha, Sharda, Jaypee, Prakash, Kailash and NIMS. Following the order to increase bed capacity, GIMS now has 160 beds to treat Covid patients while Noida Covid hospital has 368. As for private hospitals, there are 46, 200, 380, 150, 50, 200, 200 beds at Fortis, Yatharth, Sharda, Jaypee, Prakash, Kailash, and NIMS, respectively.

Meanwhile, the health department in Ghaziabad has also ramped up its hospital facilities. The district has made nine functional quarantine centres.

At the District Combined Hospital, the number of beds has been increased to 118 from 100. Chief medical superintendent Dr Sanjay Teotia said another ward with 60 beds are ready and would be made functional after getting permission from the state government.

At present, there are 10 Covid patients admitted to the hospital and they are stable, the doctor added. Officials are mulling to start nine quarantine centres with 958 beds in the district as well. At the same time, 11 private hospitals with 920 beds have been allowed to treat Covid patients. There are a total of 2,000 beds, including 200 ICU beds, in the district’s 11 private hospitals. However, there is a plan to give additional six private hospitals to treat Covid patients.

In Ghaziabad, Santosh hospital has 400 beds to treat Covid patients. As for private hospitals, there are 120 beds in Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, 125 in Yashoda Hospital & Research Centre, 83 in Max Super Speciality Hospital, 150 in Le Crest Hospital, 100 in Flores Hospital, 40 in Ganesh Hospital, 75 in Narendra Mohan Hospital, 100 in Gayatri hospital, 12 in Aloki Hospital, 65 in Navin Hospital and 50 in Atlanta Hospital.Till Thursday, of 920 beds, 405 were occupied. On 183 ICU altogether in 11 private hospitals, 102 were occupied in Ghaziabad.
