Cleaning of water reservoirs on, brace for water woes till October 15 in Noida

NOIDA: Residents from various sectors of Noida complained of erratic water supply following a drive by the Noida Authority to clean underground reservoirs. The drive will continue till October 15. Some of the affected areas are sectors 112, 113, 115, 116, 121, 122, 78 and more. Other areas include sectors 55, 56, 57, and 74 and villages Sorkha, Garhi Chaukhandi and Parthala Khanjarpur.Few residents have stored water ahead of the cleaning drive, while for the rest daily chores have been affected. Nikhil Singhal, AOA president of Eldeco Aamntran, Sector 119 said that nearly 5,000 residents have been affected in the society. Suresh Kumar from Sector 121 said, We are conserving water as we are not sure when the water supply will be back to normal.Cleaning of underground reservoirs is an annual drive by the Noida Authority. When contacted, Sanjay Parashar, senior manager of the water department of the Noida Authority, told TOI that the water supply was not shut down for more than 48 hours. We had issued notice to the residents in advance asking them to conserve water and to use it rationally during cleaning. Also, its not possible to supply tankers to all the housing societies across Noida, said Parashar.Meanwhile, the water pipeline in Sector 3 of Greater Noida West, which was fixed on Tuesday, started leaking again on Thursday. Sandeep Sagar, technical supervisor of the water department, GNIDA told TOI that work in an inlet pipe is under way. Authorities acknowledge the need to increase the water level and attribute the inadequate rainfall in catchment areas as a major cause. Immediate measures are necessary to address the situation.Executive engineer to fix irregular water supply in Ardee CityThe Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) commissioner has assured residents of Ardee City that the water supply disruption in their society will be resolved. Residents have been facing irregular water supply and are also calling for an upgrade of the water-boosting stations in the area. The MCG commissioner has directed the executive engineer to address the concerns of the residents and ensure that they do not face any further water supply issues.
