GREATER NOIDA: A 38-year-old daily wage worker was seriously injured after a school bus rammed him near the Delta-3 roundabout on Friday around 7.30am. Police said the bus was not carrying any students or teachers when the accident occurred. After receiving the information of the accident, a team from Surajpur police station reached the spot and rushed the injured person to Kailash Hospital with the help of locals. The victim Ravi Prasad is a native of Patna, who is currently residing in Surajpur. An eyewitness told us that Prasad was crossing the roundabout when a yellow school bus hit him and escaped, said Sumit Shukla, assistant commissioner of police (Central Noida). Besides fractures in the legs, the man suffered injuries on his arms and head. We have informed his family members. While his wife is coming from Patna, one of his relatives, who stays in Greater Noida, has already reached the hospital, said Awadhesh Pratap Singh, the SHO of Surajpur. Meanwhile, police have recovered the bus, but its driver is on the run.The bus was found abandoned in Luksar village. Upon inquiry, it was found that the bus is owned by a Noida-based transporter, and it was hired by a Greater Noida-based private school on a contractual basis for ferrying students and teachers, added Singh. Police have reached out to the transporter to get the drivers details. We have yet to receive a complaint from the victims family, but a case will be registered soon against the driver, the SHO told TOI. A complaint is being filed by the school in connection with the incident.
