2 shooters hired by man to kill neighbour held after gun battle

NOIDA: Two shooters allegedly hired by a man to kill his neighbour were arrested on Saturday after a brief gunfight in Dadri area of Greater Noida. Rajkumari was killed by two bike-borne assailants on Tuesday morning. According to the police, the woman lived with her husband in Saraswati Vihar and the incident happened hardly 100 metres away from her residence. Kapil Gurjar, who hired the two men, also resides in the neighbourhood. Cops said Gurjar is also a friend of Rajkumaris husband, Pushpendra. Kapil Gurjar is a native of Hapur and resident of the same area as Rajkumari. He had paid two men Rs 50,000 to kill the woman. We received a tip-off that the two men will be in the locality to take the payment from Gurjar, Saad Miya Khan, deputy commissioner of police, said.After taking the money, on their way back to Hapur, Arvind alias Monu Gurjar (27) and Aniket alias Dujana (21) were chased by the police and near Kot canal area, the shooters were caught after a gunfight. Police said Rs 50,000 cash, one country-made pistol, two live cartridges and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession. They had got the cash from Kapil for killing the woman. Teams have been deployed to arrest the main accused. The motive behind the murder will be clear after his arrest, Ashok Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police, said.
