Noida: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) started a drive on Monday to clean vulnerable spots where garbage is being dumped now and plant saplings. GNIDA has identified 82 locations for the drive. This initiative started under Swachhata Hi Seva programme. UPs additional chief secretary, Mukesh Meshram, inaugurated the drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti in Ramlila ground of Sector Pi 1. The Authority and administrative officials cleaned the Ramlila ground and surrounding areas and planted saplings. Over the month, the drive will cover Omicron 1, 2, 3, Gama, and various parts of Greater Noida West. Authority officials said these vulnerable spots will be cleaned, and then plantations will be done to beautify them. Benches will also be installed for public use. Garbage is also being cleaned near Gaur Atulyam Society and Primary School in Sigma 2, and plants and grass are being planted. The Authority will take care of the saplings for the next three years, said Rajnikant Pandey, OSD at GNIDA and in charge of the health department. Sanitation workers were also honoured during the event for their commitment to keeping the city clean. GNIDA officials also appealed to the residents to not throw garbage in undesignated spots around the societies and main road. When a few people start throwing garbage at random spots, others follow suit, and these spots turn into garbage dumping points.
