NOIDA: Two residents of a housing society were involved in an ugly spat on Monday night over a pets entry into an elevator, the latest in a glut of similar incidents that have been reported from condominium compounds in the city. One of the two residents involved in the spat at Parx Laureate in Sector 108 — which was recorded on the CCTV camera of the elevator and surfaced on social media on Tuesday —is a former bureaucrat who was a secretary in a central government ministry. Police said no complaint had been filed by either of the two individuals. The footage shows a woman, accompanied by her pet, and the former bureaucrat seemingly involved in an argument in the elevator during which he pulls out his phone. As she tries to snatch it away, he slaps her several times till her spouse enters the scene. The couple then retaliate and start hitting the former bureaucrat. Finally, security guards bring the situation under control. The elevator was on the buildings ground floor. A police team rushed to the society after seeing the footage on social media. ACP Rajneesh said, The retired IAS officer refused to let the woman take her dog inside the lift, leading to an argument, which escalated into a scuffle. Both parties resolved the matter later and decided not to file any formal complaint. An ACP-rank officer reached the spot for interrogation and screened the CCTV footage. Senior police officers said they plan to meet with presidents and members of RWAs and AOAs to devise guidelines on use of common areas by pets in societies to prevent such flareups. Some condominiums have formulated their own rules, even spelling out fines on pet owners for transgressions. Many societies have earmarked general lifts, specifying that residents can only use those when their pets are accompanying them. Parx Laureate has no such rules. Rajiv Malik, AOA president of Parx Laureate, said it was a personal matter between two individuals who had resolved it. Neighbours fight sometimes, its not a big deal, he said. The society has two lifts—one service lift and the second a passenger lift. There are no rules in the society for using any separate lifts for pet dogs.We also published the following articles recentlyInside Noida society lift: Retired IAS officer slaps woman for taking dog, then her hubby thrashes himAn altercation occurred between a retired IAS officer and a woman over bringing a dog into a lift in Noida.
