Influencer booked for `snake venom` rave party

NOIDA: YouTuber and reality TV star Elvish Yadav was among six people booked on Thursday on a complaint by BJP MP Maneka Gandhis NGO - People for Animals (PFA) - which accused him of supplying snake venom to make opioids at rave parties.Five of the accused - other than Yadav - were arrested Thursday night after PFA officer-bearers said they posed as organisers of a rave party and asked Yadav to supply snake poison at a banquet hall in Sector 51.A vial with 20ml liquid, believed to be venom, was recovered. Nine snakes, including five cobras and a python, were also seized. Four of those arrested are snake handlers. Gaurav Gupta, welfare officer at PFA, alleged that Yadav had asked him to contact one of the accused for the venom. Gurgaon-based Yadav, who is in Mumbai for a shoot, said the charges were "false". YouTuber denies allegations even as 5 men arrestedGupta said, In some of his YouTube videos, Yadav had even spoken about making recreational drugs from snake poison. We had a tip-off that he would supply venom at rave parties. When we called up Yadav, he asked us to contact a person named Rahul. He even assured us that Rahul would agree to supply poison if we took the YouTubers name. NGO officials called up Rahul and asked him to come to Chevron banquet hall in Sector 51 on Thursday for aparty. We also informed the Sector 49 police station and the forest department. When Rahul and four others came, they were arrested, Gupta said.The five who were arrested were identified as Rahul (32), Teetunath (45), Jaikaran (50), Narayan (50) and Ravinath (45) — all from Delhi. After Gupta lodged a complaint, an FIR was registered against the six — including Gupta — under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and sections 9 (prohibition of hunting), 39 (hunted animals to be government property) 48(A) (restriction on transportation of wildlife), 49 (prohibition of dealings in animal articles), 50 (empowers forest officer to arrest person involved in an offence against the Act), 51 (violation of chapter VA of Act will lead to imprisonment which may extend to seven years) of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Of the five we have arrested, four are snake handlers. Rahul was their agent and would supply the poison. A vial containing 20ml liquid, suspected to be snake venom, has been seized. We have sent it for forensic tests, said DCP Rambadan Singh. Singh said they were probing Yadavs role. A member of Yadavs team told TOI he was in Mumbai for a music video. Earlier in the day, the YouTuber posted a video on X. I woke up to the news that I have been involved in illegal activities, but the allegations are false..., he said in Hindi.
