Snake venom supply: Cops in Mumbai, Ggn for Elvish probe

  • | Sunday | 5th November, 2023

NOIDA: Police sent three teams to Mumbai, Gurgaon and Delhi on Saturday to investigate allegations that YouTuber and reality TV star Elvish Yadav supplied snake venom at rave parties, but clarified they hadnt found any evidence against him so far. The YouTuber was, meanwhile, stopped at a checkpost in Rajasthans Kota, but was allowed to leave after police there checked with their counterparts in Noida. Yadav was among six persons booked on Thursday on a complaint by BJP MP Maneka Gandhis NGO People for Animals. Five of the accused — other than Yadav — were arrested after officer-bearers of PFA said they posed as organisers of a rave party and asked the YouTuber to supply snake poison at a banquet hall in Sector 51. Yadav, they alleged, directed them to a man called Rahul, who met the PFA team outside the banquet hall along with four snake charmers. The five were nabbed and a vial with 20ml liquid — believed to be venom — and nine snakes, including five cobras and a python — were recovered from them.In a video posted on X, Yadav denied the allegations of supplying snake venom. A senior Noida police officer said on Saturday a team was sent to Mumbai because Yadav had been shooting for a music video there on the day the five were arrested. He is based in Gurgaon. Five teams in total are engaged in the investigation of this case. We have received information about a few others who may be involved in supplying snake venom at rave parties. We are finding out more on that, the officer said. Police are also scanning the call records of Yadav and the five who were arrested. We are going through their contacts and messages. A team is also scanning the social media posts of Yadav and the videos he has uploaded. None from his team has contacted us so far, the officer said.In Kota on Saturday evening, Yadav was stopped for about 15 minutes. Police officials said it was a routine check before assembly elections in the state later this month. Yadav was travelling with a few friends when he was stopped near the Jhalawar border. It was routine questioning, an official of the Kota (rural) police said. The police team contacted cops in Noida, who told them that the charges against the YouTuber hadnt been corroborated. He cooperated with us and did not try to flee, another official said. Sources in Noida police confirmed having received a call from Kota. We told them that Yadav was a suspect and we were collecting evidence against him, a source said.
