NOIDA: As more people throng the Sector 18 market, the Authority CEO Lokesh M met Sector 18 market traders on Saturday to discuss plans to decongest the shopping hub.The Authority plans to issue monthly passes to the local shopkeepers and traders at nominal rates so that they can park their vehicles in the multilevel parking facility. The Authority has also drawn up a layout of beautification works of the market.There are around 1,000 shops and showrooms in the Sector 18 market, making it one of the busiest commercial places in Noida, an official said.The 8-storey multi-level parking area in the market can park 2,923 vehicles, but on a usual day it sees around 1,000 vehicles.The Noida CEO said that the monthly passes that will be issued to the local traders for multi-level and surface parking at reasonable rates will decongest the market as presently the vehicles are parked on the roadside, choking the area during peak hours.SK Jain, president of the Sector 18 market association, said parking is a serious issue. Presently, the rate of multilevel parking is as high as Rs 600 for cars and Rs 300 for bikes. However, the Authority gives only one pass for each establishment in Sector 18. A case of negligence has been filed against him, and the vehicle owners are demanding compensation.CCP appoints pay-parking contractorThe Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has authorized a pay-parking contractor to collect fees in designated areas of the state capital, with the order having retrospective effect from August 14. The contractor has been instructed to deposit the license fee and GST for August 15 to October 31. The directive was issued by CCP commissioner Clen Madeira to contractor Sohan Juwarkar.
