NOIDA: Police commissioner Laxmi Singh has ordered a departmental inquiry against a senior officer for alleged breach of professional conduct after he appeared in a music video in his official uniform.The video has been doing the rounds on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter).It shows Ajay Chahar, the officer in-charge of Sector 126 police station, working and taking calls on a desk in full uniform.He then steps into his car, which carries a caste name, and leaves.In the next scene, he gets out of his car and talks with an actor in a fake police uniform and then a group of actors sitting near a footover bridge. The video ends with a wide shot of him walking with this group.Anand Kulkarni, additional commissioner of police (law and order), told TOI, "The rules and guidelines prohibit police officers from deliberately appearing in such videos in their uniform. They are not allowed to get involved in such activities without formal permissions."According to a statement from police, Chahar was sent to Police Lines with immediate effect and a departmental inquiry was initiated against him.During the inquiry, police will record Chahars statement on his appearance in the video, said Kulkarni, adding that further actions will be taken based on that.
