Air quality improves slightly in Noida, but still ‘very poor’

NOIDA: The citys AQI on Thursday improved, but is still in the upper levels of the very poor zone at 394. The index was in the severe category a day ago. At 439, Greater Noidas air quality also improved marginally and moved to the severe zone on Thursday from severe+ a day ago. At 391, Ghaziabads AQI stayed in the very poor category. CPCBhas directed the pollution departments in Noida as well as Ghaziabad to keep a close watch on the air quality and noise level in the pre- and post-Diwali period for one week.This year, Diwali will be celebrated on November 12.Track the pollution level in your cityWe are monitoring air quality and noise level 24x7 in three shifts in sectors 1, 18, 62, and 122. The process started on November 5 and will continue till November 19, said an official from the Noida pollution department. Utsav Sharma, regional officer of the UP pollution control board in Noida, said the district administration, pollution department, and police have decided to sensitise RWAs in Noida over the ban on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles. The RWAs will ensure that vehicles banned by the CAQM do not exit the sectors gate, he added. Ghaziabad residents also rued the worsening air quality.
