NOIDA: Two 5-acre industrial land parcels have been allotted to Sify Infinit Spaces and Jackson Limited for the development of data centres in YEIDAs Sector 28, along the Yamuna Expressway, and close to the upcoming Noida International Airport. The two companies are expected to invest Rs 1,757.5 crore in projects that will generate 775 job opportunities.Sify is a leading company in this sector, while Jackson is an established name in the solar energy sector, generators, and transformers. In September this year, YEIDA launched a scheme for data centre parks in Sector 28. Under the scheme, one plot of 31 acres, another of 10 acres, and three plots of five acres were up for allotment. Against the five plots, three applications were received. On November 6, a meeting of the allotment committee was held that considered all the three applications, and on the basis of the project presentations, Jackson Limited and Sify Infinit Spaces Limited, both Fortune 500 companies, were allotted plots in Sector 28, said YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh. Gautam Budh Nagar is moving towards becoming a data centre hub. Last year, Hiranandani Group built the states first data centre in the Greater Noida Authority area. The group was allotted 20 acres of land in Knowledge Park 5 in September 2020. On October 31, 2022, chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the companys first building out of six. The CM also laid the foundation stones for the next two buildings at the same time. They are likely to be ready in 2024. During the event, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between Hiranandani and senior government officers for an investment of Rs 39,000 crore in the next five to seven years. After this, the demand for land for data centres has increased in the district. In view of this, the Yamuna Authority selected Sector 28 for the data centre park and reserved 100 acres. Sify had also signed an MoU with the government at the UP Global Investor Summit held in Lucknow in February this year. On the basis of this MoU, Sify applied for the Yamuna Authority scheme. Officials hope that the data centre will be operational on time. Data centre parks are also being set up in Noida, and Microsoft, MAQ, and Adani Group have bought land for this purpose. Adani Group has been allotted two land parcels: 8.5 acres in Sector 62 and another 18 acres in Sector 80. The company has proposed an investment of over Rs 7,400 crore and jobs for over 3,700.
