Noida: Five new foot overbridges are set to come up in Greater Noida and Greater Noida West. Construction for all five bridges is set to start soon and provisions for stairs and lifts have been incorporated into all the footbridges. The bridges will be constructed near Kailash Hospital on Surajpur-Kasna road, close to Gamma Shopping Complex, Ek Murti Roundabout, in proximity to Nirala Estate, and near the Supertech Ecovillage townships. The design, construction, and completion of these over-bridges will undergo testing by IIT. Under the PPP model, following the pattern of DBFOT (Design, Build, Fund, Operate, and Transfer), GNIDA anticipates around Rs 9 lakh in monthly earnings from these five foot-over-bridges.Earlier, the Authority had issued tenders to construct the footbridges at a total of eight locations, dividing Greater Noida into three zones. While companies have been selected for five of them, GNIDA will re-issue tenders to construct the bridges at the remaining three spots — near Omega Shopping Complex, Durga Talkies Junction, and District Collectorate. The construction of these foot-over-bridges aims to facilitate pedestrian movement across these busy roads and intersections.GNIDA CEO Ravi Kumar NG instructed officials to identify additional locations for constructing footbridges in the city. Moreover, instructions have been issued to introduce more development projects under the PPP model, aiming to increase the Authoritys monthly income to Rs 50 lakh. According to officials, this amount will be utilised for the citys cleanliness and maintenance works. We also published the following articles recentlyLoutolim villagers oppose construction of new Borim bridgeResidents of Loutolim have strongly objected to the acquisition of land for the construction of the new Borim bridge. Additionally, the UMC has filed FIRs against 49 people for violating the high court order of bursting firecrackers only between 8 pm to 10 pm.Construction activities rampant despite curbsUnabated construction activities and uncovered construction material in Gurgaon are contributing to dust pollution due to the lack of strict implementation of GRAP norms. Despite enforcement teams issuing challans, both the HSVP and MCG have failed to completely check construction activities. Road construction workers are also violating rules, with no measures taken to control dust. The lack of action from government departments raises questions about public compliance. Both agencies have not appointed nodal officials or helplines for reporting violations. MCG has issued several challans, but construction sites continue to operate.
