Chhath: Kalindi Kunj bridge to be off bounds for 2 days

Noida: The traffic police have banned the movement of heavy vehicles on the Kalindi Kunj bridge on Sunday and Monday and will also divert light vehicles to other routes if required to allow the passage of devotees to the Yamuna River for Chhath Puja festivities.DCP Anil Kumar Singh said hundreds of devotees will likely participate in Chhath Puja on the Yamuna banks near Kalindi Kunj.To facilitate them, we have decided to stop the movement of heavy vehicles from Noida to Delhi on the six-lane Kalindi Kunj bridge. If needed, we will also restrict the movement of light vehicles and divert them to other routes, he said. Commuters should take the DND Flyway and the Chilla Road to travel from Noida to Delhi on Sunday and Monday, added the DCP.Similar restrictions will apply on the Hindon Bridge near Kulesra in Greater Noida. Vehicles from Surajpur to Noida Phase 3 will divert at Kisan Chowk. The traffic police have issued a helpline number (9971009001) to facilitate commuting.On Friday, Anand Rao Kulkarni, additional police commissioner in Gautam Budh Nagar, also inspected the Chhath preparations on the Yamuna banks in the Sector 126 police station area. He directed officials to ensure the deployment of police personnel during the programme.Raghvendra Dubey, general secretary of Purvanchal Mitra Mandal Chhath Puja Samiti, told TOI that hundreds of people will celebrate Chhath Puja in Noida. Some people are going to the Yamuna banks near Kalindi Kunj, and some will perform the rituals in artificial ponds across sectors. We will celebrate in Sector 31.
