Offices without complaint panel to be fined Rs 50,000: DM

NOIDA: The Noida district magistrate on Thursday ordered a fine of Rs 50,000 on offices functioning with 10 or more employees that dont have an internal complaint committee (ICC). All the employers are advised to constitute an ICC in their subordinate offices, take action as per the rules under the Act and ensure that information on the formed internal committees is updated on the website of their office, read the official order.Though the order does not mention any specific deadline for the formation of the committee, AK Soni, district probation officer said, An inspection committee will be formed after a month with women in participation to check the implementation of the order under the DMs supervision.Earlier in June, a similar order was released by the district administration. the order read, In accordance with Section 4 of the Act of Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, every government, semi-government, non-government (private) department, organization, undertaking, establishment at the district level where the number of personnel is 10 or more than 10, in any enterprise, organization, branch or unit, it is mandatory for the employer of all such offices to constitute an internal committee to investigate complaints related to sexual harassment of women at workplace. Officials said that in the FY 2022-23, 225 companies registered themselves in the district and 12 sexual harassment cases were also lodged during this period.
