An FIR will be registered based on the panels report. On waking up to no power on Friday morning, Deepak Sharma, RWA president of Sector 105, initially thought it to be a local fault and waited for the power to resume. We checked the transformers when power supply was not restored after a couple of hours and discovered that nearly all the transformers in the sector had been tampered with, said SharmaHe added that Sector 105 is near the GB Nagar police commissionarate and yet the thieves did not fear getting caught.By early evening, residents from B block and D block reported that their inverters had also stopped working. My inverter stopped working by early evening as its battery died down, said Geetanshu Chaudhary, a resident of Sector 105.Kapil Muni, sub-divisional officer (SDO) from the Noida power department, who oversees the area, told TOI, There are about 12 transformers in the sector, some of which are of 1,000 kv capacity. It appears that thieves stole oil from all the transformers late in the night, leaving behind broken door latches and knobs, tampered equipment, and spilt oil.Meanwhile, the transformer repair team of PVVNL visited the sector later in the day to assess the damage. We have inspected about four to five transformers till noon and will be inspecting the rest soon, after which we will submit our report. So far it looks like a case of oil theft by unknown people, said Harsh Srivastava, SDO transformer repair team, PVVNL.Muni added that based on SDO Srivastavas report an FIR will be filed in Sector 63 police station, which is dedicated to power theft and electricity-related complaints.
