NOIDA: From removal of old, rusting electrical equipment like poles, transformers, feeders, meters, panel and junction boxes, to demand for uninterrupted power supply — industry representatives, under the banner of District Udyog Bandhu, flagged several concerns during a meeting with DM Manish Verma on Tuesday. The Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) had raised similar issues too with PVVNL on Saturday. They demanded removal of overhead cables and an office for deputy director of electrical safety in Noida for easy procurement of electrical equipment. Currently, the deputy directors office is in Ghaziabad, which leads to unnecessary delays in case of emergency. They also raised issues like encroachment and health facilities for industrial workers.Demanding an upgrade of old equipment like transformers, poles, meters, and feeders, Mukesh Kakkar, senior vice-president, NEA, said, Industrial sectors face frequent outage, which are borne by the entrepreneurs. Therefore, appropriate steps should be taken for uninterrupted power supply in industries. Also, overhead cables are often snapped due to the slightest wind or rain, affecting industrial production. Vipin Malhan, president of NEA, who met Chaitra V, MD PVVNL on Saturday, said, Electricity is currently supplied to the industrial sectors through overhead cables, which is affected by the slightest increase in speed of the wind or showers. Therefore, the basic electricity facilities should be strengthened, and cables should be moved underground to prevent frequent outages. Ruling out underground cables in industrial sectors, MD PVVNL Chaitra V explained that due to logistical reasons like narrow and congested roads, digging for underground cables, and other services like gas, water and sewer pipelines in industrial sectors can cause damage.Pipelines are already laid in the area, which cannot be disturbed. Power department officials need to devise sector-wise plans for electricity-related repair and ramping up electrical equipment in industrial sectors, Chaitra V added. Meanwhile, the DM Manish Kumar Verma informed that funds have been approved for the power department to carry out the repair of basic facilities in industrial sectors. He also directed officials to expedite their work.Addressing the issue of encroachment in industrial sectors, VK Seth, secretary general of NEA, has sought for a solution. Many industrial areas have been encroached by tempos, trucks, and street vendors, which disrupts daily traffic, said Seth. The DM instructed the traffic department to hold a meeting with the entrepreneurs on December 2 and devise a plan to clear the roads.Sharad Chandra Jain, treasurer of NEA, also urged the DM to direct the Employees State Insurance Corporation Hospital to provide references to patients for admission to private hospitals. In the absence of a reference from ESI, the patients are forced to seek treatment at their personal expense, said Jain.Directing ESIC officials to treat seriously ill patients, the DM however said that ESIC cannot give such a reference as it must cater to all health-related issues of industrial workers.
