NOIDA: The district administration sealed a cinema hall at Grand Venice Mall in Greater Noida on Monday. The move came after the developer failed to clear dues worth at least Rs 2 crore against recovery certificates issued by the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera) and the consumer forum.Ankit Kumar, the Sadar SDM, said while Rera had issued three recovery certificates against Bhasin Infotech and Infrastructures Ltd – the developer of the mall – the consumer forum slapped one. Although buyers invested their money, their properties were not handed over to them. Some of them approached Rera while others filed petitions at the consumer forum. Both of them issued recovery certificates against the developer. Multiple reminders were sent to the developer, but they were ignored. So, we visited the Grand Venice Mall on Monday and sealed a cinema hall, the Sadar SDM said.Other outlets at the mall continued to operate as usual. Calls and messages to SS Bhasin – the mall owner – did not elicit any response. The administration, Kumar said, will continue to take such action against developers who are yet to respond to recovery certificates issued by Rera. According to officials, nearly 100 developers in Noida and Greater Noida owe around Rs 600 crore in dues to Authorities.Rera issues recovery certificates against developers to protect the interest of homebuyers as well as help boost investments in the real estate industry under provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
