NOIDA: The Greater Noida authority demolished an illegal staircase constructed to link a ground-floor shop to a flat directly above it in a Greater Noida West society and sealed the house that was being used for commercial purposes on Wednesday. Residents, however, claimed the shopkeepers broke the authoritys seal and resumed construction of the staircase soon after the GNIDA team left the White Orchid Society Gaur City 2. Just half an hour after the demolition drive, they broke the seal and started rebuilding the stairs, said Anurag Vashishtha, the complainant who resides in the society.Vashishtha had previously lodged a complaint with the Authority stating that unauthorised constructions had taken place in two flats within the society, contrary to the approved building plan. Additionally, he alleged commercial activities were being conducted within these flats.Earlier this year on September 27, GNIDA officials had attempted a demolition. However, the opposite party had requested some time to justify their case, due to which the drive was not conducted. Eventually, the Authority dissatisfied with their explanations carried out the demolition. In July, the authority squads report highlighted that a shop below the two adjacent flats had been connected through an iron staircase, which had been constructed by cutting through the roof of the shop in the societys complex. GNIDA officials said that they will investigate the matter and take necessary action. We also published the following articles recentlyDemolition of Myanmar bases broke backbone of insurgentsThe recent elimination of wanted insurgent leader Moirangthem Uttam alias Tamba and the demolition of clandestine bases in Myanmar have shifted the dynamics in the lead-up to the signing of a peace agreement between UNLF and the Union and state governments.
