Greater Noida: Idols in temple found broken, cops deployed

NOIDA: A police force was deployed in Greater Noidas Rishpal Gadhi village after idols were found vandalised at a temple on Wednesday night.Police said some villagers approached the Bisrakh police station early on Thursday morning and registered a complaint against unknown persons. An FIR was registered and the idols were replaced by the cops with the help of village elders. Preliminary investigation suggested someone might have vandalised the idols under the influence of alcohol. Two empty liquor bottles were found near the spot, police said.We received information about the vandalised idols from the caretakers of the temple at 4.30am on Thursday. A police team rushed to the spot. The broken idols were removed, and new ones were placed, said Suniti, DCP (central Noida). The temple, she added, does not have any CCTV cameras around it. A police force, meanwhile, was deployed to prevent any untoward situation. Cops from the local chowki were deployed in the village. We suspect the vandalism was done by someone under the influence of alcohol, the DCP said. An FIR was registered against unidentified miscreants under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race) and 295(A) (malicious acts to outrage and insulting the religious feelings and beliefs) of the IPC.
