Noida: 4 students held for supplying drugs in hostels out on bail

NOIDA: The four students of a private university who were arrested earlier this week for allegedly supplying drugs to colleges and hostels across Noida have been granted bail.On November 28, three students — Aditya Kumar (21), Apoorv Saxena (28) and Sagar Bajaj (23) —were granted interim bail as they had to appear for university exams and had only a small quantity of drugs on them.The sessions court in Surajpur on Friday extended their interim bail for three more days till December 4.The fourth student, Darshan Jain (21), who studies law at the university, did not get bail on Monday and was sent to judicial custody for four days. He was granted regular bail yesterday, Virendra Nagar, the counsel for the students, said. The four students, studying law and business administration, were arrested along with five others from the Mayur roundabout on November 27 for allegedly supplying drugs, including marijuana, cocaine and MDMA, to colleges, hostels and paying guest accommodations in the city and were booked under the stringent NDPS Act.The gang, police said, took orders through Snapchat, Telegram and WhatsApp, and used bike taxi riders to deliver the drugs. They would deliver the drugs in leftover packaging of e-commerce firms such as Amazon and Flipkart to avoid raising suspicion, cops said. The racket was being run for the past one-and-a-half to two years, and the drugs were sourced from different areas, DCP Harish Chander said.A spokesperson of the private university, meanwhile, said the four students have been suspended. Birajdar, a native of Karnataka, was taken into custody from Solapur jail. He is the partner of the three previously arrested accused and had provided the MD production lab equipment. In October, Mumbai police raided a manufacturing factory in Solapur and seized 8kg of MD along with raw materials. Rahul Gawli, Atul Gawli, Jain, and Kailasm Vanmali were also arrested.
