Expedite work on internal roads, CEO to Noida officials

Noida: The Noida Authority CEO, Lokesh M, on Monday asked work circle 9 officials to expedite work on 45-metre and 30-metre-wide roads in the new sectors. The road construction and development work has been delayed due to land availability issues. The CEO asked the officials to resolve technical issues and construct the roads as a priority. The Authority CEO directed the officials to carry out beautification work on the circles connecting the service roads and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Drains along the 45-metre-wide road will be covered with cemented slabs, and wild growth will be removed, said the Authority CEO. Similar instructions were also given for roads in sectors 166, 167, and 164. The Authority head asked the officials to resume the maintenance work on footpaths and the work of laying interlocking tiles, which had stopped due to orders from the National Green Tribunal (NGT), owing to toxic pollution levels in the city.Apart from this, the senior official visited the road connecting Chhaprauli Bangar village and Dallupura, where he found that the stretch experiences heavy congestion. He instructed the work circle officials to conduct a survey and prepare a plan for road widening. The Noida Authority will seek assistance from NHAI for the construction of the road. Other mobility plans include a route connecting Sector 142 with Botanical Garden station and the Chilla elevated road connecting Mayur Vihar with the Mahamaya flyover.Tepid response to TDR scheme for Katraj-Kondhwa Road workThe road widening project on Katraj-Kondhwa Road in Pune has hit a roadblock due to the tepid response to the PMCs special scheme for land acquisition. The PMC has managed to secure only 1.60 lakh square metres of the required 2.88 lakh square metres of land. This has caused delays in the project, leading to traffic congestion on the stretch. The PMC is focusing on acquiring big land parcels and aims to complete the widening works by March next year. The state government has approved Rs 200 crore for the project, but more funds will be needed for the wider road.
