Woman fights, chases down snatchers

Noida: A brave 19-year-old woman took the help of two good Samaritans to chase two miscreants who had snatched her cellphone soon after she got off an autorickshaw in Noida 's Sector 63. Both the miscreants fell from their bike and Komal fell too. "We nabbed one of them at the spot while the other man was caught from the bushes. The three of them then saw to it that the snatchers were arrested.Komal Goyal, who works at Indirapuram's Shipra Mall, got off an autorickshaw in Sector 63 and had reached A block, opposite Fortis Hospital in Sector 62, when the two youths, Vishal and Raja, arrived on a Pulsar around 11am.One of the youths snatched the woman's mobile phone and they were about to flee when Komal, a resident of Delhi's Nand Nagri, pulled his collar, making the Pulsar lose its balance. Both the miscreants fell from their bike and Komal fell too. When she cried out for help, they picked up the bike and fled.Dharmendra Gautam, Sector 62 chowki in-charge, who was present at the spot, told TOI, "When Komal cried out for help, two people in a black car arrived at the spot and offered help. She got into the car and they gave chase to the bikers. When she reached the D-Park intersection, we spotted a bike being chased by the car."The car drove around for 2km for over five minutes to reach the D Park intersection where a team of PCR 62 was engaged in checking. As soon as the police ran to catch them, the snatchers abandoned the bike near the divider of the Sector 63-Indus Valley School road and tried to hide behind the bushes near the D park."We nabbed one of them at the spot while the other man was caught from the bushes. We retrieved the woman's mobile phone and handed it over to her," Gautam said.One of the bikers, Vishal (20), is a habitual mobile snatcher and had been released from Luksar jail on June 7."He was jailed for mobile snatching earlier too. We are trying to find any criminal history of the second biker Raja," Yogendra Singh, senior sub-inspector, Phase III police station, told TOI.An FIR was lodged against them for loot under IPC 392 and the two have been handed over to the Phase III police. It has also been found that the robbers recently stole LED lights from a house in Sector 63.
