The Yaman district of Puducherry recorded the highest positivity rate of 96.6% in the country.
Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc in the country; Puducherry is facing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases with every passing day. Puducherry reported 2049 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours, while 30 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.
The active cases tally has mounted to 14,829 while total cases stand at 75,024.
The Yaman district of Puducherry recorded the highest positivity rate of 96.6% in the country.
In ideal conditions, it should be less than 5% but in the Yanam district of Puducherry, it is close to 100%. Last week, in 17 districts of the country, the positivity rate was above 48%, most of these were rural areas.
A 14-year-old girl with diabetes and a 25-year-old woman with no other disease were among the 30 patients who succumbed to the deadly virus on Tuesday. 21 people died in Puducherry, 6 died in Karaikal and 3 died in Yanam. The Puducherry headquarters has the highest 828 Covid-19 deaths followed by Karaikal (108), Yanam (64) and Mahe (18).
The recovery rate here is 78.88%, which is lower than the national average of 82.8%. So far, 2.18 lakh people have been vaccinated here. These include those who have also received the second dose.
