Puducherry logs 346 fresh cases, Test positive rate (TPR) dips below 4%

Puducherry received 326 fresh Covid cases and 8 fatalities in the last 24-hours, 

Puducherry received 326 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Thursday, while 8 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Wednesday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1,13,948. The cumulative death toll has reached 1,710 after 8 people died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has further dipped to 4333. The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 280 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (30), Yanam (10) and Mahe (6).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that 36,702 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,712 frontline workers. At the same time, 2.37 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated till date.

The official said that 480 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.07 lakhs. The Health Department tested 9,106 samples in the last 24-hours. UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 3.58%.

The recovery rate in the UT reached 94.70%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.50%.
