Puducherry: UT added 233 fresh cases, total cases tally moves past 1.15 lakhs cases

Puducherry received 233 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Monday, while 3 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Puducherry received 233 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Monday, while 3 people succumbed to the virus in the Union Territory.

Fresh cases on Sunday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1.15 lakh. The cumulative death toll has reached 1,726 after 3 people died of the disease in the last 24-hours.

The active cases tally has further dipped to 3364. The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 186 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (30), Yanam (4) and Mahe (13).

Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that 36,866 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,771 frontline workers. At the same time, 2.99 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated to date.

The official said that 428 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.09 lakhs. The Health Department tested 7,349 samples in the last 24-hours. UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 3.17%.

The recovery rate in the UT reached 95.58%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.50%.
