Puducherry adds 73 fresh Covid cases, total cases reach 1.22 lakh

Puducherry received 73 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24-hours ending at 10 am on Tuesday, while no Covid fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours. Fresh cases on Monday pushed the UTs total cases tally to 1.21 lakh. The cumulative death toll has reached 1,795.

The active cases tally has further dipped to 885. The Puducherry headquarters received the highest 50 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Karaikal (11), Yanam (8) and Mahe (4). Director of the Health and Family Welfare department, S Mohan Kumar said that, so far 37,862 vaccine doses have been given to health workers and 22,972 to frontline workers.

3,335 general public were inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday, while 5.08 lakh people in all age groups have been vaccinated to date. Puducherry has administered 7.14 lakh vaccines including the second dose (general Public + Covid warriors).

The official said that 132 patients have also recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 1.18 lakhs. The Health Department tested 5,664 samples in the last 24-hours. UT recorded a test positivity rate (TPR) of 1.29%. The recovery rate in the UT reached 97.79%, while the death rate was recorded at 1.48%.
