Fatangale kin demand arrest of key suspects

"Only three suspects have been arrested whereas the investigators have CCTV footage of the incident and all suspects are clearly visible and they can be arrested," Dhavade said.

PUNE: Rahul Fatangale 's family has demanded the immediate arrest of the prime suspects in his murder and have threatened to go on an indefinite fast. Fatangale died in the violence that gripped Koregaon Bhima on January 1.The family alleged that Fatangale was killed by a mob at Sanaswadi that day. The state criminal investigation department (CID) has arrested three persons for his murder, but the family claimed the real culprits are at large.Fatangale's cousins, Tejas Dhavade, Bhausaheb Malgunde, and Ashish Bhojane said they would go on an indefinite fast if they did not get justice. "Only three suspects have been arrested whereas the investigators have CCTV footage of the incident and all suspects are clearly visible and they can be arrested," Dhavade said. All three addressed a press conference on Tuesday.He said, "The police are deliberately not making any progress in the case. We are not against any community nor do we want to spread hatred but our brother was killed by some people and they should not go scot free."Dhavade also blamed chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for "neglecting an alert from intelligence agencies on the Koregaon Bhima situation". "There were inputs to the chief minister and home department on the situation at Koregaon Bhima. Despite this, no action was taken by police and government machinery to prevent the violence," he said.Dhavade said security measures were not taken, nor were precautions to avert the violence. "The police not pacify the crowd. The CID must arrest the suspects as soon as possible. If not, we will agitate in different parts of the state," he added.
