PUNE: Four men robbed a car, a cellphone and documents together worth Rs8.1 lakh from a Navi Sangvi resident in wee hours of Thursday near Chandni Chowk on Katraj-Dehu Road bypass.The incident occurred around 4.30am when Santoshkumar Shinde (24), a tourist cab operator, was going to pick up employees of different software companies at Hinjewadi Information Technology Park. His car was hired by an IT firm in Hinjewadi to ferry its employees.The FIR stated that Shinde had dropped an employee at the company early in the morning. While heading towards Kothrud to pick up another employee, he stopped on the Bavdhan overbridge on the bypass to relieve himself.“Before he could board his car, a four-wheeler stopped behind his vehicle. Two men possessing sharp weapons alighted from it and issued threats of dire consequences to Shinde. They then asked him to seat in their car,” said sub-inspector D N Nikam of the Hinjewadi police.As Shinde started walking towards their car, it sped away. A police team went to the spot and found the GPS unit on the road surface.“It seems that the suspects did not drive the car towards Katraj. They perhaps took the vehicle towards Pune city,” Nikam said.He added, “Shinde had kept his cell phone, ATM cards, driving licence and other important documents in the stolen vehicle. He lost them with the car.”
